How can we honor a man with a national holiday when he was really a racist, murderer, slave trader, initiator of the genocide of millions of people, and a conqueror? His history is one that reaps of blood and evil. We have been lied to as school children, and that lie continues today. But then again, how do you explain to 10 year olds that this country was was founded by mass murder, and forced exile of Native Americans?

I remember in school we were taught
that this guy was some kind of hero.
No way should we be celebrating this
genocidal murdering, rapist and thief.
Almost all of the original descendents
of the native people are gone and
most of the people that now inhabit
the islands are the descendents of people
that were forcibly kidnapped from their
families and home in Africa because they
supposedly made better slaves then the
natives. Columbus should be placed along
side of monsters like Hitler, Bush and
Benjamin Netanyahu.
