Shark Virgin Birth

A female shark in a Virgina aquarium has given birth to a pup with no father. DNA testing has proved that the pup carries no genetic information from any males. This is the second case of asexual reproduction from sharks. The first case was in a Nebraska zoo with a Hammerhead. It is also interesting to note that only one pup was delivered, while in natural cases, a liter usually consists of a dozen or more.

I always thought asexual reproduction was intriguing. It is truly a miracle for mammals to have this feature, especially when this is not of the norm.
